Abstract : Research is an ongoing endeavor. It is a recursive process. Every study is built upon the findings of past studies. Classifying prior research on the same issue as positive and negative citations is a common strategy used when analyzing the literature for a subject. In this study, we present a novel automated method that determines if a citation to a previous work is sentiment-positive or negative. Our method began by removing the relevant passage from the referencing paper. We identify the citation as positive or negative by selecting a window of no more than five (5) sentences surrounding the cited location (corpus) and using a sentiment lexicon. For sentiment analysis, we have employed the familiar citation standards to use in their respective field as per their subject specializations. The technique is tested on a set of arts, science, social science, medical science, etc. research papers that have been manually annotated and class-labeled in the reference as per the standardization prescribed by the respective societies for maintaining their quality and maintaining their research out. Every researcher can show their 80% accuracy as indicated by our preliminary data utilized from the respective cited resources. This article elaborately describes the various citation standards that one has to utilize effectively for each and every research activity that would be carried out successfully by the authors, writer, and researcher output to their publication and future development.
