Abstract : Abstract Ganglion cysts are most prevalent in the wrist, 70 % in the dorsum, and 20 % in the volar. Dorsal ganglion cysts develop from the scapholunate ligament and dorsal capsule and are located on the dorsal aspect of the wrist, whereas volar ganglion cysts develop from the radiocarpal, midcarpal joints, or wrist volar ligaments and are located on the volar aspect of the wrist. Imaging modalities such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and ultrasonography are not routinely utilized in the evaluation. Excision of the cyst wall along with the joint capsule and decompression of the cyst are the goals of surgical treatment for patients who do not respond to conservative treatment. In this study, a patient with symptoms of a volar ganglion cyst originating in the dorsal aspect of the wrist is described. The diagnosis was determined by preoperative MRI. The patient underwent an open operation and recovered
